About Me
I am a sound designer, writer, artist, and all-round passionate creator of things. I’ve done audio production in one form or another for over half a decade, and writing and visual design for twice that long. Most recently, I assisted as a Sound Designer/QA Analyst on Dungeon Defenders: Awakened and Dungeon Defenders: Going Rogue, creating and implementing sounds for those games (with some assistance in bug tracking and management).
In my own personal and professional growth, I’ve learned everything from audio design to electronics repair to 3D printing to web design, and plethora in-between. I’m never satisfied with learning only one thing – a massive part of the creative process to me is expanding my horizons to better adapt, formulate, and understand whatever is thrown my way. With an open mind for other disciplines, my own work, sound design or otherwise, is only stronger.
From the fantasy novels of my youth, to the numerous gaming worlds and concepts I’ve experienced, and even something as commonplace as a lopsided mailbox or an out-of-season birdcall, I have found inspiration in countless places – real and fictional. So often the human experience can get wrapped up in paperwork, small talk, and titles. (Admittedly, these too have their purpose – elevator rides would be a lot scarier without weather talk). It’s easy to forget the glue that makes up our everyday existence. What does a dropped glass sound like? How do we feel when we see a bat flying at dusk? Why are hangnails a three-act tragedy in their own right?
It’s in studying this space, the low rumble of the everyday, that I can better understand and execute creatively that which makes us human. We’re involved in the world, yes, but also observers of it at various levels. My art aims to capture that so as to give the real or fictional a thread of understated verisimilitude.
